Dorothy M. Johnson was taken to her eternal home Saturday, August 5, 2017 at the age of 88. She was born in Fairbury, Nebraska on July 17, 1929 to Arthur and Emma Schulz. The family soon moved to Haddam, Kansas, later to Las Vegas, Nevada, and finally to Idaho Falls where she graduated from Idaho Falls High School. Dorothy married the love of her life, Ivan, in 1949 where they raised their six children on the family farm in Oakland Valley. During those years Dorothy had a number of hobbies (i.e., collecting shells and rocks, painting, camping, fishing, traveling, playing cards, stamp collecting) but never gave up her love of gardening.
Dorothy was a long time member of St. John Lutheran Church and was often involved with teaching Sunday School, working with the various women's organizations, serving as youth counselor, and singing in the choir.
She is survived by her sister, Shirley (Anthony), of Idaho Falls; her children, Kirt (Karen) of Idaho Falls, Ross of Idaho Falls, Vicki of Idaho Falls, Blaine (Patty) of Idaho Falls, Keith (Laura) of Caldwell, and Kathie (Richard) of Idaho Falls; 8 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and 6 great-great-grandchildren. She loved them all dearly.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her loving husband (Ivan), and her brother (Francis). What a joyous reunion it must have been. We miss and love you so much, Mom!
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am Friday, August 11, at St. John Lutheran Church, 290 7th St., in Idaho Falls. There will be a family visitation 1 hour prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, we would like to suggest that a donation be made to St. John Lutheran Church.
Arrangements under the direction of Buck Miller Hann funeral home Idaho Falls, Idaho. Online condolences may be given at www.buckmillerhann.com.
